Skating into 2012- my rollerskating story http://ping.fm/Qp3PL

Skating into 2012- my rollerskating story

Well, I will try this again since my previous post didn't work and I didn't save my work, which I normally do- perhaps you all didn't need to read that.

On Tuesday, my husband and I went roller skating, which was the first time for me in a long, long time (we're talking 15 years or more) I've been in a set of skates. So it was definitely a learning experience and I did observe some things as I rested and watched the children skate and how this relates to everyday life.

I equate the analogy of skating through life and there are four types of skaters: the slow, cautious skaters; the fast and furious skaters; the used to be skaters; and the beginner skaters. I will briefly describe each and just think about which category you fall in.

1. The slow and cautious skaters normally stay on the outside of the skating ring, they don't want to fall and the avoid those that do fall at any cost. They avoid any and everything that would present eminent danger to them and seldom get anything done. Often they don't like taking risks such as learning to go in circles, skating backwards, and they're very comfortable in keeping their pace.

2. The fast and furious skaters are just the opposite of the first set. They love to go fast and will run over or push you if you're moving too slow for them. Sometimes they feel as if they know everything and don't take advice well when others pass it to them. Often when they fall, they fall hard and everyone knows about it because they're often in the middle of doing their signature trick or in a race and fall. They often have a hard time getting up again because their ego and pride are hurt and they feel humiliated.

3. There are those that may have skated fast and furious in their day, but they've been out of the ring for a number of years. The beauty about this group is they may be slow and cautious at first, but once they get back into the swing of things, they sometimes can teach group #2 a few tricks. There is a learning curve there, but its like riding a bicycle, once you learn, you never forget.

4. Finally, its the best group of all, which are the beginners. I call them the shuffle skaters, they often kind of go forward and backwards at the same time, often not making a lot of progress. The beauty of these individuals is that when they fall, they often get up, dust themselves off and keep shuffling. Eventually they will get it and begin glide and roll with the best of them.

As I think about all four of these individuals we all at one point and time started out as the beginner skaters. As we roll into 2012, we need to think about where we are and where we want to go in the next 365 days or so. It's a wonderful time to reflect and observe those around us and see where they are as well.

We should think in a manner in which we're at the beginning stages again because it is there one can change their direction and open themselves to learn something new. If you fall, you dust yourself off, learn from your mistakes and continue to move forward. But no matter what, you have to continue that forward movement so that you can build momentum. So let's take this time to start the reset button and begin to skate again!

Set Goals for 2012- Are you ready

As we quickly approach the end of 2011 and electric slide into 2012, what are you doing to prepare for next year? I'm singing in my head a song by Erykah Badu called "Time's A Wastin'" and it so perfectly describes the post I'm preparing below. Do you have at least your top 3 goals for 2012 in place? Do you have your TEAM to help you achieve those goals? Do you have any clue as to what I'm talking about?

We must remember that if you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Without an idea or a dream, you will surely fail. Read Below:

See the goal

See the goal clearly and you make it less distant. See the goal passionately and you make it more real.

See the goal in rich detail and you’ll figure out how you can get there. See the goal from the perspective of your life and your purpose, and you’ll understand why you must get there.

Simply visualizing the goal will not make it happen. Yet it will indeed make you make it happen.

Every moment you live, you have an influence on life. A clearly defined goal will focus all those momentary influences into meaningful achievement.

See the goal, and see what you must do. See the goal, not only with your eyes but with all you are, and you’ll understand why it matters.

See the goal, and as soon as you do, you begin to live it. See the goal, and make it real.

— Ralph Marston

Since its the holiday season and its time for Holiday Parties. Can you list at least one experience where you witnessed a Holiday Party "Oh No"? Its like a fashion faux pas but happens at an event. I can name one- going to sleep at a holiday party (use your imagination to figure out why).

Simply be Happy

Simply
be happy

If you want to be helpful,
be happy. If you want to be successful, be happy.

Happiness is not the result of a life well lived. Happiness is the fuel for a
life well lived.

If you won’t let yourself be happy, you can’t be happy. Yet when you simply
allow happiness, nothing can keep it from you.

But isn’t it naive to be happy when there are problems and tragedies,
disappointments and obstacles throughout life? Actually, it is a sense of
happiness and positive self worth that will push you successfully through even
the most difficult challenges.

You don’t have to justify your happiness, or explain it or be ashamed of it.
Just let it be, and let its power create real, meaningful value in your world.

In fact, there’s nothing you must be happy about. Simply be happy, and let your
authentic joy lift your whole world higher.

— Ralph Marston

Ups and Downs

Ups and downs

You won’t ever really feel good if feeling good is the only thing you seek. A life with only the ups and no downs is not only impossible, it is undesirable.

You won’t achieve anything of value unless you’re willing to work your way through some difficult and demanding challenges. Value is built through effort, and there is no way around that.

To become skilled, you must practice, and to learn, you must study. There are always new techniques that can make you more effective, yet there are no shortcuts when it comes to true achievement.

The pains, the disappointments, the frustrations and the trepidations hurt. Because they feel so bad, you have the opportunity to authentically feel good by working your way beyond them.

Life is necessarily difficult, and that’s what makes it possible for life to be so good. For it is in dealing with the difficulties that the power of life’s goodness is fully experienced.

Live life fully, enjoying the good times and growing stronger by working through the difficult times. Savor the richness that is to be found in it all.

Life Moves Forward

Life moves forward

The challenges show you how powerful and effective you can be when you must be. The positive possibilities give you satisfying and fulfilling ways to make use of your strength.
The difficult times help you to more fully appreciate what you have. The good times help you to see how very much joy is possible.
The disappointments bring you valuable, meaningful and useful experience. The successes give you the confidence to reach even higher.
Those who criticize you offer you priceless feedback and important new perspectives. Those who appreciate what you’ve done give you the encouragement to do even more.
No matter which way the individual events may go, life moves forward. From each and every experience and outcome, there is something of value to be gained.
Instead of worrying or judging or obsessing about what may or may not come, accept and appreciate what does come. Then, with a strong and thankful heart, make good and purposeful use of it all.

Lack of Self Control

I thought this was a very powerful and timely message and the note and response to this verse was outstanding from our Mr. Kandiwo.

Proverbs: 25:28: A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.

Thought from Freddie Kandiwo: Nairobi Kenya (via Facebook)

The city broken into and left without walls paints a particular picture on my mind. In the first place, the city itself is of value, hence the need for the walls. These can serve the purpose such as defense against the enemies, or preservation of privacy or indeed a mark of the boundary which seeks to preserve the good in the city. In the second place the absence of the walls indicates exposure to all sorts of danger; becoming an easy target for the enemy. There is a danger that all the good in the city will no longer be there. It will become difficult for the city to control who comes, goes out, from which point and so on.

Temptation is ever present in our daily lives. A life without self-control is not without consequence. One will for sure yield to any provocation that comes their way as there are no defenses. There is absence of orderliness in their life.

I pray that the Lord may open our eyes that we may reason in daily situations and seek to have a good conscious. May we display the good character, by living self-cotrolled lives; in our appetite for the things in this life, and as good stewards of what has been entrusted to us. May the Lord rule our thoughts and intensions, and help us build defenses in our individual lives.

The 7 Secrets to Living an Extraordinary Life

This is an article by Kimberly Englot, from her book, "The Now of Happiness" and I thought that this was an awesome concept and article to share with you all.

The 7 Secrets to Living an Extraordinary Life

“Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be
that perfectly.”

St. Francis of de Sales

In this book I have given you countless tools and techniques
to get you to realize that you can be happy now, with a little practice. But I
can’t just leave it without giving you my very favorite tips for living an
extraordinary life. They’re really simple. In fact, I think you’ll be surprised
at how simple.

Be a class act and conduct yourself with integrity. Give
others the benefit of the doubt,
especially in an argument. It doesn't cost you a thing. Just remember: you can be right or you can be happy.

Be honest-- people can usually tell when you're lying.

Don't let petty things upset you; it's not worth your
energy.

Don't whine or complain because negativity robs you of
energy, and it's just not worth it!

Be consistent with your morals and values; hypocrites do not
lead extraordinary lives.

Choose to be around people you admire. Eliminate negative
people and those that don't support you.
You don't need the constant reminder of "how much life sucks,"
because that simply isn't true.

Although your friends don't define who you are as a person,
we tend to strive to be like our friends. Therefore, if you want to be
successful, hang around successful people.

Act with intention. Be authentic in your interactions with people;
actively listen, sustain judgment until after the person has finished, say what
you mean and mean what you say.
People can tell when you're lying or being insincere, so don't insult them by
being fake during your interaction with them.

Act as if this is "it." Don't wait to be happy or
satisfied in life until (insert goal, possession, experience here). Act as if
you already love your life, since this moment right now, is all you have.
If you wait until success,
marriage, children, or money to be happy, you may never be happy and you miss
out on life. Don't wait for a special occasion to light those candles. Don't
wait until you have your dream house to create a home that reflects you. Do it
now because THIS is it! Smile, laugh and be grateful for what you already have.

Put yourself back on your list. Remind yourself that you're
worth the time and effort. Make yourself a priority: exercise, eat well, get enough
sleep, and spend some "me" time. Take pleasure in doing things you
really enjoy and take pride in your appearance, your home, and your car. You're
worth it. You'll feel better and amazing
things will start to happen for you when you remember how great you are.

Strive for success and all that success brings, but don't
get too caught up in it. It's okay to want nice things. Just remember that
things don't make you happy. Happiness comes from inside so don't buy into the
illusion that a nicer car will mean you're happier. Set goals and aim high but don't
get so caught up in reaching those goals that you forget about now; remember to
still live like this is "it!"

Listen to your intuition and don't second-guess your
decisions. You know what's best for you. If you want to be successful, believe you can and do what it takes
to succeed. Take note of that
negative mind chatter and remind yourself that you are a very successful,
talented and intelligent woman who can make decisions for herself.

Repost from Jaime Gill: People have asked me why did I get a life coach or why did I become a consultant to help others to connect to qualified anointed life coaches...the answer is in the Bible: Plans fail for a lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. Proverbs 15:22. God never intended us to have all the answers, that is why there is one body and MANY PARTS!! I want to help you make your plans succeed!!

Your priceless legacy

Life does not owe you anything, because life has already given you everything. You owe yourself the courtesy of working to make the most of it all.

You are alive in a universe filled with limitless possibilities. Your purposeful, focused, and persistent actions can transform any possibility you choose into great value.

The abundance to which you already have access is far greater than anything you could think to ask for. However, what you can ask of yourself is to make it all into a meaningful and rewarding experience.

In life’s great abundance you’ll find more than enough energy and resources for magnificent fulfillment. It is up to you to create and express that fulfillment through your thoughts, actions and commitments.

You owe it to yourself and to your best possibilities to fully bring those possibilities to life. You owe it to yourself to make the effort and to do the work to create the unique fulfillment that only you can bring into being.

Your precious, unique life connects you with all that is. Every moment is your opportunity to more fully express your priceless legacy.

Facing the Giants and making it! http://ping.fm/SKcUU

Facing the Giants and making it!

This is an awesome video. For some reason, it was destined for me to be awake since 5 a.m. after going to bed almost at a quarter to 2 a.m. For those of you who know me well, KNOW that I'm not a morning person, but for some reason, I feel well rested and am ready to start my grind.

I was awakened by my alarm clock and Steve Harvey actually spoke about "Doing something!". Don't compare your race in life to others because you can't be them and they can't be you. Also, he spoke about the majority of the people who fly first class have grey hair which means that success doesn't come overnight. You have to struggle, you have to actually work and most of all, you must start by DOING SOMETHING!

Since I couldn't go back to sleep, I decided to stay up, and I actually scroll through briefly with Facebok and I found this great quote from Tracey E. Mitchell from Harriet Beacher Stowe that summarizes everything.

"When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time when the tide will turn."~ Harriet Beacher Stowe.

That pretty much summarizes everything that I've been going through lately and I know my fellow Compass Bootcampers feel the same. But don't give up, don't give in and most of all, DO SOMETHING.

I will probably re-post this several times throughout the day because I truly feel this is a message that can change at least 1 person's life. WE can post foolishness and play games on social media but we can't take 5 minutes to post something inspirational or words of encouragement to pour a blessing into someone else's life.

If for some reason you're facing a giant or have been trying to do something and for some reason it hasn't come through, it's time to reach out for help. But it stars by making a change in your life, don't quit and finally DO SOMETHING. If this touches you in any way, feel free to send me a message at gcaffey@mylifecompassrep.com or visit www.mylifecompass.com/nov8ive to learn more how utilizing a life coach can change your perspective and your situation.

"Action is worry's worst enemy."~ Proverb. What action are you taking today to ensure that you don't have to worry about your tomorrows?

Going your way
How do you get the things in your life going your way? Take responsibility for making them go your way.
How do you make sure the day is filled with what you prefer to be doing? Be the person who fills it.
How do you get the most value and fulfillment from your precious time? Use that time to take meaningful, value-producing action.
Do what it takes to take the initiative. Now is when you can decide how your life is going to be and do the work to make it so.
Make tomorrow a great day by preparing for it today. Instead of complaining about how things turn out, do the work that will determine how they turn out.
What would your life look like if it looked exactly the way you wish? Take control, take the initiative, and you can make it so.
— Ralph Marston
What are you doing today to ensure that today and better yet tomorrow will go your way? Take a few minutes to reflect on this notion and if you're willing to seek guidance, send me an inbox message and let's chat about it.

What price are you paying for delaying action? Its called procrastination- remember that indecisiveness, procrastination leads to missed opportunities.

It is the dream of an entrepreneur, unwilling to quit, that breeded the computer age -- the dream of a committed entrepreneur that ushered electricity into existence and the dream of entrepreneurs all over the globe -- who refuse to take no for an answer -- that gave us many of the conveniences we enjoy today.

R.E.A.P. MANIFESTATION
But it takes more than a dream . . . there are four personalities of every successful entrepreneur: The dreamer is the heartbeat - without the dream the entrepreneur dies; the thinker is the strategic planner; the storyteller is the performer who invokes excitement in others and the leader is the one who takes action in order for the dream to become a reality. (Michael E. Gerber- The E-Myth Revisited)

What you seek? You should seek life coaching

What you seek?

When you look for things to complain about, you’ll find plenty. When you look for things to be joyful about, you’ll also find plenty. So what kind of world do you wish to live in? Do you prefer to live in a world full of annoyance and frustration, or would you rather live in a world filled with opportunities for joy?You can choose the quality of your world by choosing your focus. You can choose the quality of your life by choosing what you seek.Seek to be a true, sincere friend, and you’ll find that you have many good friends. Seek to provide real, honest, creative value and you’ll experience much meaningful value flowing into your life.Whether you realize it or not, whether you like it or not, you are highly effective at achieving the goals that most intensely occupy your awareness. So what exactly are the things that most intensely and most frequently fill your awareness?Your attitude in every moment defines what you are seeking. And what you seek, is what you get.— Ralph Marston

Your Very Essence

I'm exploring new avenues to still keep the information relevant and up to date by using other ways to post to my blog. Its mid-year and are you still dreaming in black and white or in full color? This is an inspirational corner to help wrap up this week! Thanks Brother Brown for sending this to me.

Your Very Essence

What you truly desire, you cannot ever take from anybody else. Because what you truly desire, is to fulfill your own unique purpose. If you cheat or steal, you gain nothing of real value. If you destroy or injure, you are just making life more difficult for everyone, especially including you. There are no shortcuts to the real fulfillment you seek. When you grab the mere tokens of that fulfillment, you push the real substance of it farther away. There is no such thing as something for nothing. Even if there were, you would not want it, for it would bring no fulfillment.Go ahead, make the commitment, make the effort, and persist in that effort until you can feel the fulfillment start to take hold. Go ahead and do the hard work to make a positive difference in your own special way, because that is what you long to do.You are immensely valuable, and that value can be fully expressed only through sustained and focused effort. Make the commitment to live that value, for it is your very essence, and well worth whatever you must endure.— Ralph Marston

Top 10 BlogTalk Radio Shows that Motivate Me.

Hello again, this will be a double-hitter of sorts. I admit that I fell off of the wagon and my last post was January 10, so I am saddened that I didn't follow my goal for this year. However, just as child falling off the bike, you only can ride off into the sunset if you get back on and continue to pedal forward!

Therefore, some brief updates on how this business pregnancy is going since this would be considered my first trimester. Things have slowed down tremendously in that endeavor, the morning sickness of actually thinking about what path I've decided to travel has subsided, and I'm even taking this to meditation and prayer to make sure that the steps of my path are ordered. So... we keep pushing along, the ideas of this business embryo continue to grow, its being nourished through research and gathering my team. So things are moving along, but now its time to finish the stage of research and begin implementation.

With all that being said, I would like to say that it takes motivation, even from people who have no clue that you exist to help keep me going. Thus, the reason for this post, "Top 10 BlogtTalk Radio Shows that Motivate Me". If you haven't had an opportunity to peruse or browse BlogTalk Radio, you are missing a treat. I'm 100% sure that there's at least one show that everyone can find interesting and listen to. For me, I've found about 15-20 shows that I keep in my regular rotation.

But with the Generation Y and those with short attention spans (like myself), I decided to narrow it down to the following shows that discuss business and entrepreneurship (in no particular order). Check out www.blogtalkradio.com- you won't be disappointed and feel free to do a search on the website for keywords and subjects that interest you.

1. Karen Taylor Bass- Mocha Mommies
2. Melissa Dawn Johnson- Brand Me Live
3. The Delicious Life/ Catriceology
4. Wealthy Sistas- Deborah Hardnett
5 and 6. Pam Perry (she has Chocolate Pages and PR with Pam Perry)
7. The Career Engineer
8. The Marketing Lady
9. Darnyelle Jervey
10. Your15Minutes (all 1 word)

I also have a couple of honorable mentions: Small Biz Lady; Real Women, Real Life; Buzz Talk with Lady O; and Inspirasoul. So definitely take a look at any of these wonderful ladies or find an interest of your own. Its a great tool to keep you and those around you motivated and to stay on that bicycle.

Until next time- we will continue with our motivational corner, tips on event planning, and the talk of the new business venture.

Secrets of Success

John D. Rockefeller said “The secret of success is to do the common things uncommonly well.” Do you have what it takes to take your special talents and gifts to another level in order to become successful? Will you do what you need to do in order to become successful, by any legal means necessary? I recently visited The Oaks the home of Dr. Booker T. Washington, principal and first President of Tuskegee University. He can be considered one of the greatest entrepreneurs, visionaries and thought leaders of the 20th century. I gained a renewed spirit walking through the home, taking pictures of the home where he reared his children. I actually stood in Dr. Washington’s office where he penned his letters and thoughts and visited his bedroom, where he eventually died.

John D. Rockefeller walked those halls, Dr. George Washington Carver sat in some of those chairs, Andrew Carnegie, Julius Rosenwald of the Rosenwald Schools actually helped to support Dr. Washington’s cause when society said that it wasn’t popular to do so. These fellow thought leaders and millionaires of their time left their mark on society and visited that home. I actually had an opportunity to feel the energy and my if those walls would talk, what interesting and intellectual conversations they probably contain!

You can’t help but become inspired and in awe of what that house represents and is still standing after being built over 100 years ago. It was one of the first homes built in the state of Alabama with indoor plumbing and electricity and it was owned by a former slave! So even the house that Booker T. Washington built, lived in, and eventually died was ahead of its time.

Again I ask, what will you do to become successful? Can you move beyond your old form of thinking and achieve the goals that you wish to achieve in 2011? Will you have the courage to stand alone and defend your thoughts when it looks as if the world is against you? Will you be able to do the uncomfortable things for a little while in order to be comfortable for a long while?

Hopefully the pictures and these few words of encouragement will help you get on your grind, get your hustle on, and do what you really need to do to make it happen for you (legally).Find the motivation and inspiration within ourselves and each other and surround yourself with positive individuals that will help see you through your journey (we will talk about toxic people another time).

This is the first motivational corner for 2011 and thanks for your time. I hope this provides you some tools you can use. Tick Tock, Tick Tock, It’s the Time Management Clock!

What’s the one thing that we all wish we could have more of, you never can make more of it, it’s something that’s not manmade and once it’s gone, it will never return again? It’s called time! It’s true what they say, the early bird catches the worm, therefore its imperative to allot enough time for yourself and for Murphy’s Law when planning an event.

You want to schedule out your event in blocks, from setup, to thirty minutes prior, the beginning, middle, end, breakdown and wrap-up of your event. Especially in setting up, allow yourself enough time for something to inevitably go wrong, prepare yourself with the trusty back-up plan. Make sure that you have the phone numbers and contracts handy just in case you have to refer to your contract. Prepare yourself for delays, but don’t let them spill into your start time.

My golden rule to event planning is to start on time, no matter what. At the end of the day, people will remember the good only for a short while, but they will definitely remember the bad and whether or not you started on time. So managing your time wisely is not a maybe, it’s a must.

For more tips, stay tuned next week as we provide other tips on how to save your event and your sanity. If you are looking for an event planner to assist you in creating an awesome event, please visit our website at http://www.nov8iveevents.com/.
