Life Moves Forward

Life moves forward

The challenges show you how powerful and effective you can be when you must be. The positive possibilities give you satisfying and fulfilling ways to make use of your strength.
The difficult times help you to more fully appreciate what you have. The good times help you to see how very much joy is possible.
The disappointments bring you valuable, meaningful and useful experience. The successes give you the confidence to reach even higher.
Those who criticize you offer you priceless feedback and important new perspectives. Those who appreciate what you’ve done give you the encouragement to do even more.
No matter which way the individual events may go, life moves forward. From each and every experience and outcome, there is something of value to be gained.
Instead of worrying or judging or obsessing about what may or may not come, accept and appreciate what does come. Then, with a strong and thankful heart, make good and purposeful use of it all.

Lack of Self Control

I thought this was a very powerful and timely message and the note and response to this verse was outstanding from our Mr. Kandiwo.

Proverbs: 25:28: A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.

Thought from Freddie Kandiwo: Nairobi Kenya (via Facebook)

The city broken into and left without walls paints a particular picture on my mind. In the first place, the city itself is of value, hence the need for the walls. These can serve the purpose such as defense against the enemies, or preservation of privacy or indeed a mark of the boundary which seeks to preserve the good in the city. In the second place the absence of the walls indicates exposure to all sorts of danger; becoming an easy target for the enemy. There is a danger that all the good in the city will no longer be there. It will become difficult for the city to control who comes, goes out, from which point and so on.

Temptation is ever present in our daily lives. A life without self-control is not without consequence. One will for sure yield to any provocation that comes their way as there are no defenses. There is absence of orderliness in their life.

I pray that the Lord may open our eyes that we may reason in daily situations and seek to have a good conscious. May we display the good character, by living self-cotrolled lives; in our appetite for the things in this life, and as good stewards of what has been entrusted to us. May the Lord rule our thoughts and intensions, and help us build defenses in our individual lives.

The 7 Secrets to Living an Extraordinary Life

This is an article by Kimberly Englot, from her book, "The Now of Happiness" and I thought that this was an awesome concept and article to share with you all.

The 7 Secrets to Living an Extraordinary Life

“Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be
that perfectly.”

St. Francis of de Sales

In this book I have given you countless tools and techniques
to get you to realize that you can be happy now, with a little practice. But I
can’t just leave it without giving you my very favorite tips for living an
extraordinary life. They’re really simple. In fact, I think you’ll be surprised
at how simple.

Be a class act and conduct yourself with integrity. Give
others the benefit of the doubt,
especially in an argument. It doesn't cost you a thing. Just remember: you can be right or you can be happy.

Be honest-- people can usually tell when you're lying.

Don't let petty things upset you; it's not worth your
energy.

Don't whine or complain because negativity robs you of
energy, and it's just not worth it!

Be consistent with your morals and values; hypocrites do not
lead extraordinary lives.

Choose to be around people you admire. Eliminate negative
people and those that don't support you.
You don't need the constant reminder of "how much life sucks,"
because that simply isn't true.

Although your friends don't define who you are as a person,
we tend to strive to be like our friends. Therefore, if you want to be
successful, hang around successful people.

Act with intention. Be authentic in your interactions with people;
actively listen, sustain judgment until after the person has finished, say what
you mean and mean what you say.
People can tell when you're lying or being insincere, so don't insult them by
being fake during your interaction with them.

Act as if this is "it." Don't wait to be happy or
satisfied in life until (insert goal, possession, experience here). Act as if
you already love your life, since this moment right now, is all you have.
If you wait until success,
marriage, children, or money to be happy, you may never be happy and you miss
out on life. Don't wait for a special occasion to light those candles. Don't
wait until you have your dream house to create a home that reflects you. Do it
now because THIS is it! Smile, laugh and be grateful for what you already have.

Put yourself back on your list. Remind yourself that you're
worth the time and effort. Make yourself a priority: exercise, eat well, get enough
sleep, and spend some "me" time. Take pleasure in doing things you
really enjoy and take pride in your appearance, your home, and your car. You're
worth it. You'll feel better and amazing
things will start to happen for you when you remember how great you are.

Strive for success and all that success brings, but don't
get too caught up in it. It's okay to want nice things. Just remember that
things don't make you happy. Happiness comes from inside so don't buy into the
illusion that a nicer car will mean you're happier. Set goals and aim high but don't
get so caught up in reaching those goals that you forget about now; remember to
still live like this is "it!"

Listen to your intuition and don't second-guess your
decisions. You know what's best for you. If you want to be successful, believe you can and do what it takes
to succeed. Take note of that
negative mind chatter and remind yourself that you are a very successful,
talented and intelligent woman who can make decisions for herself.

Your Very Essence

I'm exploring new avenues to still keep the information relevant and up to date by using other ways to post to my blog. Its mid-year and are you still dreaming in black and white or in full color? This is an inspirational corner to help wrap up this week! Thanks Brother Brown for sending this to me.

Your Very Essence

What you truly desire, you cannot ever take from anybody else. Because what you truly desire, is to fulfill your own unique purpose. If you cheat or steal, you gain nothing of real value. If you destroy or injure, you are just making life more difficult for everyone, especially including you. There are no shortcuts to the real fulfillment you seek. When you grab the mere tokens of that fulfillment, you push the real substance of it farther away. There is no such thing as something for nothing. Even if there were, you would not want it, for it would bring no fulfillment.Go ahead, make the commitment, make the effort, and persist in that effort until you can feel the fulfillment start to take hold. Go ahead and do the hard work to make a positive difference in your own special way, because that is what you long to do.You are immensely valuable, and that value can be fully expressed only through sustained and focused effort. Make the commitment to live that value, for it is your very essence, and well worth whatever you must endure.— Ralph Marston
